Pious Before Prophethood

All the prophets of Allah Ta‘ala are very special people. From all the people in the world, they are the best and most pious people. Even before they became the prophets of Allah Ta‘ala, they never committed any sin and always wanted to help people and do good deeds.

Our beloved Nabi Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) became the prophet of Allah Ta‘ala when he was forty years old. Even before he became the prophet of Allah Ta‘ala, he never committed any sin. Because he was the special person who Allah Ta‘ala had chosen to become the prophet, Allah Ta‘ala protected him from committing any sins.

In the time of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), the people used to worship idols and statues. Even when making tawaaf of the Ka’bah, they would pass their hands over the idols. They would also drink wine and eat haraam meat. However, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) would not worship or touch the idols, and he did not eat haraam meat.

Once, the Quraish brought some food for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) to eat. However, because Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) knew that they had recited the names of their idols when slaughtering the animal, he did not eat the meat.

On one occasion, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) went to a certain person’s wedding in Makkah Mukarramah. When he arrived at the wedding, Allah Ta‘ala made him fall asleep and sealed his ears shut, because the people were playing music at the wedding. In this way, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) did not listen to the music, and only woke up the next morning.

From this, we can see that throughout his life, Allah Ta‘ala protected Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) so that he never ever committed any sin.
