Ask our children:

1. Can food be thrown away?

2. If Allah Ta‘ala has given us a lot of favours, what should we do?

3. How should we treat the poor?

Now tell them the story:

There was once a spoilt boy whose name was Aslam. His parents were rich and because he was their only child, he enjoyed all their love and attention. They gave him the latest toys, dressed him in the smartest clothing and drove him in the best of cars. He was so spoilt, that his bedroom alone was as big as other people’s homes! There was never a dull day in Aslam’s life and he never heard ‘NO!’ as an answer. Anything he asked for was immediately given to him.

Ask our children:

1. Are we allowed to tease and make fun of people?

2. What should we do if someone teases us?

Now tell them the story:

There was once a little boy whose name was ‘Ali and surname was Gani. His pockets were always full of money and so he would always buy sweets and candy. Whenever his mummy and daddy would tell him to look after his teeth, he would refuse to listen. After a few years had passed, most of his teeth had decayed and had to be removed. With most of his teeth on the right and left pulled out, his two big front teeth began to stick out and really made him look funny.

Ask our children:

1. If someone asks us for forgiveness, what should we do?

Now tell them the story:

There was once a mighty lion who ruled over a dangerous jungle. All the animals feared him and would not dare disobey him. A single roar from him was enough to completely silence the entire jungle. As time passed, the lion became so proud and arrogant that he refused to listen to anyone and would do as he pleased.

Ask our children:

1. Who must we turn to when faced with any problem?

2. What must we do when our problem is solved?

3. Is it permissible to deceive someone?

Now tell them the story:

‘Abdullah was a very pious man who owned a farm that was full of beautiful fruit trees. Every now and then it would rain and this is how his trees would get their water. It once so happened that the rains stopped. Abdullah naturally became very worried. He immediately turned to Allah Ta‘ala and begged Allah Ta‘ala for help. There was a deep well on the farm but ‘Abdullah was too old and weak to draw out water for his trees.

Ask our children:

1. Who comes first, our parents or our friends?

2. How should we treat our parents?

3. What should we do when our parents get old?

Now tell them the story:

There was once a little boy named Hanzalah. His favourite friend was a big apple tree. Every day he would play around the tree, climb its high branches, eat its red apples and rest under its cool shade. He loved the tree and the tree loved him. However, when the little boy grew up, he stopped visiting the tree. The tree missed him and became very, very lonely.
