Husband Not Happy with Cooking

Correspondence of Hazrat Moulana Yunus Patel Saheb (rahimahullah)

Asalaam Mu Alaikum Maulana

I am married for several years. Shukr alhamdullilah I love my husband and he loves me and we have a good relationship. However, we have a problem commonly found in other marriages which has become serious: my husband is not happy with my cooking. I try very hard to make the kind of food he likes by looking for new recipes, asking my mother-in-law etc but he is always unhappy. When he doesn't like it, he gets very upset and angry and sometimes he has come close to giving me one 'talaaq' - astagfirrullah. I don't know what to do, as I love him and try so hard but he is rarely happy. He is a very fussy man and has high expectations which I can't seem to meet, no matter how hard I have tried. When I got married I didn't know how to cook, so I tried very quickly to learn, am learning everyday, but I am still unable to please him. Please can you give me some guidance and make dua for my marriage and for myself.

Having a Muslim Mind

Wednesday, 23 May 2012 15:05

There are many Muslims in the world with Muslim names. However there are very few amongst them with Muslim minds. The education system designed by the disbelievers as well as the various forms of media which are controlled by them are all structured to mould and shape our minds and  to control our way of thinking. It is imperative that we break out of this slavery of mankind and enter into the service of one Allah Ta’ala. Listen to the talks of our pious Ulama and read their books. Choose the company of pious women. Hearts will move hearts.

1) Protect the gaze from falling on strange men, your heart will be at ease.

2) Bring qualities into your life and become valuable.

3) Make an effort on the upbringing of your children and secure the coolness to your eyes.

4) Spend in the path of Allah Ta’ala or else it may be wasted in extravagance.

5) Cover yourself according to the spirit of Sharee’ah and enjoy protection.

6) Keep Jannat in front of you and continue doing good.

Opposites make a Match

Wednesday, 23 May 2012 08:30

A very pious and soft natured lady married a very ill-tempered husband. One day the wife said to her husband “You are indeed unfortunate. You have been staying with me for such a long time and yet you have not reformed yourself.” The husband replied, “Why call me unfortunate? Could there be anyone more fortunate than me, that I have a wife like you. In fact you are the unfortunate one that you have a husband like me.”

At times marriages seem to be a combination of two persons with direct opposite personalities. If one’s marriage feels the same, then keep in mind that this is common. All we need to do is to turn to Allah T`alaa and thereafter to work as a couple through our differences. Many have done it and enjoy a happy marriage. You too can do the same.
