My Mother’s Tongue

A Muslim court once handed down a judgement against a thief. As his hand was about to be amputated, he ragingly said: “Before amputating my hand, amputate my mothers tongue, because the very first time in my life when I stole an egg from my neighbour’s house, my mother failed to admonish me . She did not even ask me to return the egg to the neighbour. In fact she was full of praise and happiness that her son turned out to be a perfect man. If my mother did not have such a congratulating tongue, I would not have been a criminal today.”

The most prevailing influence anyone can have on the child is the mother. As mothers we have to be well aware of our child’s activities within the home and beyond as well.
